The Africa Modelling Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases (AM2NTD) is a newly launched initiative under CEMA, aimed at supporting endemic countries in using modeling to guide the control and elimination of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs).
In addition to providing strategic insights,AM2NTD seeks to build long-term modeling capacity across the continent by establishing centers of excellence.Currently in its pilot phase, the first country to benefit from AM2NTD’s support is Senegal, through the Senegal Schistosomiasis Modelling Project.
The project aims to use modeling insights to assess whether current interventions are sufficient to meet the 2030 elimination target for schistosomiasis as a public health problem, and to identify optimized treatment strategies to accelerate eradication efforts.
The Senegal Schistosomiasis Modelling Project will bring together experts from CEMA and Senegal’s Institut Pasteur Dakar (IPD) to support the national NTD program, fostering knowledge exchange, skill development, and capacity building in NTD modeling.
